HEY food!

I arrived at work to be greeted by a bag of fresh tomatoes. They were a present from Pete, picked that morning from his organic garden. I ate a few of the cherry tomatoes and made a sandwich with half of one of the larger tomatoes. Brown rice English muffin slathered with chive soy cream cheese and topped with sliced tomato.

Weely’s vegan lasagna was too tempting to resist despite my resolve to not eat wheat everyday. I also didn’t intend to eat the whole plateful, having accidentally taken too large a piece. I didn’t succeed there either. That being said it was super delicious!

My smoothie this afternoon consisted of two bananas, one date, and unsweetened almond milk. I blended it in my office using the magic bullet. I shut the door and wrapped it in a blanket so it wouldn’t make too much noise. I don’t think it would have bothered anyone but I was too nervous that they would think it was weird thing to be doing to blend openly and in the kitchen. The magic bullet is not good at blending certain things and dates are one of those things. I ended up eating most of the date, all coarse pieces resting on the bottom of the cup. Then I rinsed it out with more cold almond milk to capture the last of the date.

Almond milk is the most perfect milk. Cold and creamy without the weird thick catch in the back of my throat that cow’s milk has.
